Lochan nan al, Campsite Ardnamurchan
Our site is on the shoreline of Kilchoan bay looking across to the north end of the Isle of Mull, Drimnin & Morvern peninsula to the south east. Panoramic view is how it was described to me when I was younger, I did not take that on board at the time as I grew up with this view. I do now.
Wildlife on our doorstep: otters, mallard & teal, heron, buzzard & golden eagle.
There is more but I cant keep up.
We have hard standings for 5 Motorhomes/caravans/campervans with hook ups, also pitches for up to 20 tents.
Dogs are welcome if controlled & any poo picked up after them as grass is cut weekly.
BBQs & campfires are allowed at your own risk & organised.
Public shower block/toilets with less able access adjacent to the site along with village shop & launching jetty.
Local pub a 10 min walk.
Ferry to Tobermory, capital of the Isle of Mull 15min away.
There is also Staffa tours from the isle of Mull, which run daily & you can be picked up at Mingary pier & visit the puffin colonies & visit Fingals cave, Fingal who was one of the Lord of the isles.
There is also Ardnamurchan Lighthouse to visit which being on the most westerly point of the uk mainland, on a clear day you will be able to see the Small isles, Cullins of Skye, some of the inner Isles & the Uists
Also on the walk from car park to the lighthouse take a look to your right hand side.
You will see a set of steps leading down to the small jetty that the northern lighthouse board used in days gone by to land personnel & supplies from sea.
One of the best fishing spots on this coast.
Keep that to yourself.
