Lochranza Caravan and Camping Site
Lochranza Campsite is an ideal base for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, photographers and those seeking peace and relaxation. It is reached by ferry from Ardrossan on the Ayrshire coast to Brodick, or from Claonaig on Kintyre to Lochranza. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
A wide range of walks begin from the campsite gate, both along the coast and into the mountains. The area is famed worldwide for its fascinating geology. Pay and play 9 hole golf is available on the highly scenic course adjacent to the campsite. All are welcome to play, whatever the age or level of experience.
The level site has 60 pitches and is supervised by wardens who stay on site. Hook ups and hard standing are available. Fees include hot showers, hot water for dish washing and the use of hairdryers. A campers' room contains plentiful tourist information and a fridge, microwave and kettle for visitors' use. Camping gas can be purchased in reception. There is a small self-service laundrette on site.
The Stags Pavilion restaurant adjacent to the site offers mouth-watering Italian cuisine and a groceries shop selling fresh food.
The Isle of Arran Distillery, which offers guided tours, has a gift shop and a cafe just across the road from the campsite. It is a 10 minute walk to Lochranza village which is dominated by the medieval castle in the loch. A wide array of wildlife can be observed by a wander around the loch. In the village you can find the Lochranza Hotel with its public bar and dining room, the Sandwich Station, a butcher, a crafts shop and an art gallery. Bike hire is available at the pier and pony trekking at nearby North Sannox. Day trips to explore Kintyre are possible on the CalMac Lochranza-Claonaig ferry.
An excellent bus service connects Lochranza with the rest of the island and its many attractions.
