Drumroamin Farm Caravan and Camping Site
We are a family run site in a rural location set at the end of a country farm lane, with no passing traffic to disturb you. The campsite is surrounded by views of farm land, the Galloway Hills and Wigtown Bay.
Our new, spacious toilet/shower block is heated and modern. There are large, free showers, indoor washing up area with free hot water, washing/drying machines available and a family/disabled room all on one level. We have a playroom which has a pool table, T.V. and books available to use.
We are in the heart of Wigtownshire, which gets called the Machers, and easy access to all that it offers. Whithorn, which is 10 miles south of the campsite, with its Christian history and there they have the Whithorn Story Visitor Centre telling you about the start of Christianity in the area.
Just 5 miles south of the site is Wigtown, Book Capital of Scotland, which has many shops, not just selling books and our local Osprey nest can be viewed live from the County Buildings in the heart of Wigtown. We are not far from Newton Stewart (11 miles) and then Kirroughtree (16 miles) with its 7stanes mountain bike centre. You do not have to be a keen cyclist to be able to get the best of this.
There are lots of forestry walks, family cycle tracks and a nice cafe to have something to eat after all that exercise.
We have lots of walks close by too. Just at the top of the lane we have Kilsture forest, great for walking the dog. At Garlieston, which is 5 miles south of the site, there is Galloway House Gardens, which has lovely walks round rambling gardens and then down to a nice sandy, enclosed beach. Garlieston was the birth place of Mulberry Harbour Landings.
We have Scotlands most southerly distillery just 3 miles away called Bladnoch Distillery, which gives guided tours and a wee dram at the end. Their shop sells all those holiday gifts you need to take home with you.
