Penhalvean Pottery Campsite
We have an area where we allow a camp fire, please see our page ‘The Stone Circle‘ for more information.
We offer basic separate mens’ and womens’ W.C. facilities with hot showers and a small washroom area with fridge, sink, microwave & kettle. We don’t have a shop on site but there is a butchers’ shop opposite and village shop in Stithians (2 miles). We have an honesty box where we try to maintain availability for logs and other useful camping accessories.
Not all of the 4 acre field is cut short and there is a path around the meadow area where we have mown sheltered pockets to hide away in. We encourage wildlife and there are an abundance of butterflies, dragonflies and swallows to be seen over the long grass in summer. We also have a nesting family of buzzards in the nearby trees and geese often pass overhead coming and going from Stithians’ lake.
Based almost equidistant from both the north and south coast of Cornwall we’re in a great spot to access all over the county. The site offers long distance views of Falmouth bay and St Austell’s ‘Cornish Alps’, the deposits from the China clay industry.
We’re situated approximately 1/2 mile from Stithians’ Lake Watersports Centre and The Golden Lion Inn (great for food), 3 miles from Redruth (local ammenities & train station on Penzance to Paddington line), 9 miles from Truro (Cornwall’s only city with stunning Cathedral), 7 miles from Falmouth (south coast town with beaches) and 6 miles from Portreath (north coast fishing village with beach). We’re also only 8 miles from Helston & Flambard’s offers a great family day out!
We’re within half an hour’s drive of the Helford river and the Lizard peninsula which offer beautiful countryside and stunning coastline. Several places to go swimming, fishing and catch a boat trip.
