Forest Gate
Forest Gate is a small family camping site in the gardens of a Victorian Rectory, with easy access to the Royal Forest of Dean, the Cotswolds and the Malverns.
All the normal facilities are provided - H&C water, flush toilets and hot showers, Electric hook-ups, waste collection and fire prevention points around the grounds, and we sell basics in the Reception in the Log Cabin at the entrance to the site. We freeze ice packs and sell bags of ice for your drinks. We supply freshly cooked baguettes to order.
Camping at Forest Gate costs £8.00 per person per night and £4.00for children, inclusive of hot water and showers. Electrical hook-up costs £3.50 per day. There is a small charge for day visitors to the site (currently £1.50 per person). We are struggling at the moment with the relatively new problem of catering for campers with oversize tents, who tend to take up 2 sites with their tents and cars. We are experimenting with the idea ofcharging an extra £5.00 per day for the additional space taken up over a Bank holiday (as has been instigated by other sites), although this may be modified in the light of further experience.
Pets are accepted on the site; dogs are accepted only by arrangement (one dog per unit) and must be on leads at all times.
The Royal Forest of Dean provides a vast and varied selection of activities, from diving to tree climbing, cycling to All-Terrain driving, from bird watching to birds of prey training courses. The Severn Bore can be seen many times a year about two miles from the site.
We are on direct bus routes from Gloucester, Hereford, Ross-on-Wye and Cinderford. Directions for travel by road or public transport can be downloaded from our web site.
It is not necessary to pre-book your stay at Forest Gate except at Bank Holidays and/or if you wish to bring dogs with you.
