The Location and Surrounding Attractions
Kings Acre is a family run small holding, situated down a private lane in the small village of Saughall, Cheshire. Saughall is located on the outskirts of Chester on the Welsh border. The grounds surrounding the campsite run to twenty acres and were historically part of the King’s Forest.
Nowadays there are numerous footpaths in the area, and the owner has a small lake in the grounds with its very own bar which is open at certain times of the year.
Just four miles away from Kings Acre is the Roman city of Chester.
Enjoy the city’s superb selection of shops, bars and restaurants, visit the racecourse, or walk around the city walls and along the River Dee.
Chester Zoo is world-renowned and makes for a wonderful day out for all ages; or you may wish to head up the Wirral Peninsular where you can find quaint villages, sandy beaches and a superb selection of golf courses, including Hoylake which was the venue for The Open in 2014.
Just a short drive will take you into North Wales where you can explore traditional seaside resorts, historic castles and the Snowdonia National Park.
The Boring but Essential Stuff
Please note: All pitches must be pre booked. We cannot accept walk in bookings due to private functions and events being held at Kings Acre over the course of the season.
Kings Acre is resident to a menagerie of family pets (horses Billy and Biscuit, farm dogs May, Bo and Bella and farm cat Possum) and also livestock including ducks, pigs and chickens, as such we cannot allow campers to bring your own pets and ask that children must be supervised around the animals.
There are two open ponds (with deep water) at Kings Acre, so children must be supervised at all times.
We do not have any electric hook ups and we cannot accept caravans.
