Waterside House Campsite
Waterside House Campsite is beautifully situated on the Northern shores of Lake Ullswater.
Perfectly positioned at the foot of Barton Fell, it is an ideal place for mountain biking sailing, fishing, pony trekking, walking or just relaxing.
We accept tents and motor homes and also hire out tipis, which are fully furnished (all you need to bring is your duvet, sheets and pillows) and situated on the shores of the lake.
Facilities include excellent modern showers and toilets with hair driers and hand driers, electric hook ups, chemical disposal point, fully equipped laundry with coffee machine, children's adventure playground, a well stocked shop with gas bottle exchange, freezer for ice pack exchange, public telephone, boat launch and car parking, seasonal boat storage, volley ball and table tennis.
We also have a small catering van where you can get a bacon or sausage butty and cup of tea or coffee along with a few other things.
The pretty village of Pooley Bridge boasts three pubs, two cafés and gift shops and tourist information. Other villages nearby can be reached quite easily where you will find quaint little Inns with locally brewed ales and even whiskey.
The Ullswater Steamers can be boarded at Pooley Bridge or Howtown and you can enjoy combining a walk along the lakeside with a more relaxing ride with stunning views of the surrounding fells. The nearest town is Penrith, which is approximately seven miles away where you can visit the castle and park, leisure centre, cinema, museum, and interesting shops. There is a market on Tuesdays and a Saturday market at the Auction Mart.
